Get to know our team and why we are working on trying to make sure that this pilot project is a success!
We are hoping that we will be able to take this project to a national rollout by 2020.
A group of people that came together to solve the issue of littering and also make producers and importers responsible for their waste.
The team has been working together since 2018 talking about how to best roll out a container deposit scheme for the country to at least ensure that no single use plastic bottles leak into the environment.
The team sees wider scale impacts from a proper implementation of this policy intervention. With a lot of scope for developing the recycling sector in the country as well as ensuring that we can grow the local manufacturing industry instead of heavily relying on imports.
To ensure that little to no plastic (or container waste) ends up in the oceans by incentivizing collection of beverage containers.
To see a container deposit scheme that is implemented nationally. With a collection rate of over 90%. We’d also like to see closed loop manufacturing if bottles are manufactured locally.
